THE SUICIDE SQUAD

Planning to watch The Suicide Squad(2021)? If yes? Then I welcome you to the house of crazies because what you're about to experience is complete package of ludicrosity. Now hold up, you might be wondering why that is already. If you haven't seen the movie yet you won't understand what I'm saying at this point but it will all make sense to you by the time you see it for yourself. Now down to business and what you came here for.

Before we get into what this movie is all about. There are some few things that are worth noting. First, this version of Suicide Squad is written and directed by James Gunn anybody familiar with the Marvel Cinematic Universe(MCU) will definitely know him. Second, there is no Deadshot in this movie. Deadshot is replaced by Bloodsport played by Idris Elba. Originally, Idris Elba was supposed to play the role of Deadshot in place of Will Smith, but Bloodsport was brought into the picture as a replacement. Lastly, you don't need to have seen 2016's Suicide Squad to understand this new version. Now let's unpack what this movie is all about.

The Suicide Squad is about a team of anti-heroes and supervillains sent on a dangerous mission by the government to the island of Corto Maltese. Their mission is to find and destroy some evidence. The squad consist of Bloodsport, Peacemaker, King Shark, Harley Quinn and others. There is nothing complex about the plot. In fact, you'll barely find any twist in this movie. It's just progresses on a linear pattern and there is no confusion anywhere.

It's some few minutes over two hours long. The first ten minute of this movie establish a tone for this movie. It maintains this tone throughout the rest of its runtime. I wasn't expecting what I saw in the first ten minutes of this movies. 'What on earth is going on?' That was my reaction, and I like this consistency about this movie. It doesn't try to be what it's not from what it presents itself to be. Talking about the presentation. I will say it's highly stylised and cartoonish; this doesn't get in the way of the fun.

Going into this movie, I had no expectations and I think it really helped not to cloud my judgement about this movie because depending on the kind of expectations you might have on ground for this movie. It's either you have a fun time with it or you're left with a little bit of disappointment. Now let me explain this last part. If you're someone that cares about superheroes flicks and you have that expectations that The Suicide Squad is going to be one. Well, you might want to tone down those expectations because. It's not exactly a superheroes flick where you have a serious atmosphere, plot and overarching villain in the end. The Suicide Squad is not your typical action superhero movie. It's an action comedy about supervillains. That's the best way to describe this movie. It's violent, gory and definitely PG18. You're also going to be having a lot of laughs in this movie and the way comedy is infused? It's not too much or superimposed. It just flows well with the atmosphere that it has established from the beginning.

Talking about the cast of this movie. It's really packed. You've got Idris Elba as Bloodsport, Viola Davis reprising her role as Amanda Waller, Margot Robbie still as Harley Quinn, John Cena as Peacemaker and, Sylvester Stallone as King Shark. Idris Elba's character gets to play the lead role and It worked. At least that's the way I see it. The presence of other actors can also be felt in this movie especially the through the rivalry between John Cena's character and Idris Elba's character. That's one of my favourite thing about this movie. The visuals are also great, I mean you have James Gunn as the director and Zack Synder as an executive producer. What more could you ask for? It's definitely going to look good.

Not everyone will find The Suicide Squad to be fantastic but for me the word to qualify my experience with it is 'fun'. It's a fun movie, and I enjoyed watching it. Have you seen The Suicide Squad? We will like to know what you think.
