SUPERMAN AND LOIS (SEASON FINALE)

Fifteen episodes in and we're finally at the end of season one of Superman and Lois. It's been a lengthy run for this tv series with the weekly episodic releases which seem like an issue for some viewers. Then there are occasional breaks where some episodes are not aired the following week after one is released. This on and off has made this tv series feel like it is lengthier than it should be considering that it's fifteen episodes long and tv series lately are not more than eight episodes long; at most ten episodes long. CW's Superman and Lois still follows the lengthy tv series episode trend and for some it might be a turn off to have to wait for fifteen episodes which would be released over the course of months. However, we've been able to survive the long runtime of this show and here are some of the things we think about the show.

To begin with, the finale episode wasn’t mind blowing but for a season one finale. It’s a good one and entertaining at best. The adversaries were conveniently defeated, and some of the things that transpired have made some questions to prop up as to which direction the show will take moving forward?
Will the second season still be family and friendship focused? What villains should we be expecting in the second season? Will Morgan Edge still be returning or what happened to him? So many questions to ask. All the questions on our mind will possibly be answered over the next few months as we gather information and details about the second season.

If there is one thing this series manage to do best. It is its consistency with its theme of focus. The whole season has been family and friendship themed. You get that vibe right from episode one. You can read more about this in the previous article uploaded months ago(Link here.) Going into the finale of this season, it wasn’t a surprise to see that there is still that theme of family and friendship sprinkled all over it. The season started with same tone and ended with same tone. You even have the villain himself say all he ever wanted was a family; referring to the kryptonians he was planning to bring back even if it meant destroying planet Earth. In the last few minutes of this season, a new cast is added to the show which still carries the tone of family. The addition was quite unexpected, but it leaves the series open ended.

What I will love to see in season two. It’s very clear that Superman and Lois is show that is heavily focused around family and friendship. Going into season two there are areas I would personally like to see some changed. All these are based on personal opinion and not a community poll. First, I will like to see the family and friendship theme toned down a little bit in favor of other themes. Second, the introduction of more supes (supervillains) preferably not another kryptonian. As long as it’s a formidable foe for superman. Third, the Kent boys I believe they need more character development going into a second season, Jordan, perhaps will be given further development with his superpower and Jonathan on the other hand, they need to find something compelling for him to be engage with.

For a show that has established itself with a particular linear formula as a driving force. I do really hope this formula of family theme won't be what drives this show to the ground as fans can easily get bored of a repetitive trope. I'm really rooting for this show to evolve in a good way over the coming seasons.
