ESCAPE ROOM: TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
(This is going to be one brief review)
Among all the movie sequels I've seen lately, Escape Room: Tournament Of Champions is one of the better ones so far this year. I believe that's all you need to hear to go see this movie because it's that good! Anyway, let's get into it.
Escape Room 2 starts immediately after the events of the first movie which left us with Zoey and Ben planning to go after the organization that placed them in the death game. This movie waste no time getting into what it wants to do. After giving the audience a recap of the first movie. it proceeds to catch up with Ben and Zoey on their journey to find the organization and expose them. However, their plans are cut short when they get trapped with four other strangers in a train and soon enough the infamous game starts again.
Realistically, the premise might seem a little far-fetched. Nobody in their right mind will go after an organization with such resources to pull off such big scale death games? But for the fun of the movie, we can ignore this part of the plot and just enjoy the movie.
Escape Room 2 keeps the core value of the first movie close and tight. Apart from the cast, the star of this movie is just the death game. I have to say, it's been a while I watched a movie that got my heart pumping from suspense and tension like this movie did. The characters were also likeable and not stereotypical which makes you even root for them the more. I also found myself engaged in solving the puzzles with our protagonists at almost every point. All the games were engaging and my personal favourite was the bank sequence.
Finally, I will say watching this movie is one hour thirty minutes well-spent and you should definitely find time to watch it.
