Extraction 2 Review
Back from the brink of death Tyler Rake is back to jump into another extraction mission in this second movie. The film is around two hours long, and like the first movie, it doesn't waste time getting to the movie's main point. It's fast-paced, and some character development is done through short scenes of flashbacks. The actions scene are bigger in spectacle, with big guns, bigger and meaner bad guys to give our protagonists a tough time throughout the movie. I mean, that's why any fans will want to jump into this second movie, and they didn't disappoint.
The burning question in anybody's mind is how he survived the first movie's ending. They did well to address this at the very start of the film. Surely someone that has just survived a near-death experience wouldn't want to jump right back into action, would they? Well, you have to watch the movie to find out; we don't do spoilers here. The writers did an excellent job presenting a believable reason for this movie to happen with the plot setup. Quite clever, to be honest.
Another good thing about the plot of this second movie is that we got to see more about the character of Tyler Jake, there wasn't much revealed in the first movie, but here we got more bits of information about him and his past. I have a feeling with each new film. We'll get to know more about his past life. You also heard that right. We might be getting another Extraction movie with the ending of this one. The supporting cast in this film was also excellent and likable. We got to see more of Nik from the first movie. More was revealed about her and her relationship with Tyler. On the antagonist's side, the villains were not as deep in motivation for me, but they were okay. I hope we get to see a stronger villain in the next movie.
Overall, Extraction 2 is an entertaining movie. It sticks to its predecessor's formula while adding more to it. Is it better than the first movie? That's up for debate among fans, but I'll say it's a good movie but not as good as the first. This might just be a bias from the first charm the first movie had.
Anyway, have you seen the movie? Let me know what you think. You can also check out my article about what made the first movie a big deal here.
