WITHOUT REMORSE

The last time we got a Tom Clancy's movie adaptation was in 2014, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit starring Chris Pine and Kevin Costner. A part of me can't help but ask the question, why are there not so many Tom Clancy's movie adaptations in the 2000s till now(most of the movie releases were in the 90s). The books are major success and the video games are top hits across different generation of consoles. There was also a Jack Ryan series on Amazon, not sure if it really make a wave because not much people in my circle talked about it. Anyway, fast forward 2021, we got a new entry, technically after 7 years and it's 'Without remorse' starring Michael B Jordan. He plays John Clark, an elite Navy seal seeking justice for the murder of his pregnant wife. While trying to do this he uncovers a deep conspiracy brewing between the US and Russia that threatens an all out war between both countries.
The plot of this movie is nothing new, if this movie came out around 2009 or 2014. It might make a solid impression but it's 2021, we've seen enough movies and tv series where a special forces unit goes on a mission, get it done, months later, some group of men start taking out members of the said unit one by one until it gets to the protagonist turn to be eliminated and things goes south for them. Then the protagonist sets off to uncover what is going on. For me in 2021, this type of plot is just average; nothing spectacular to it than the carnage and violence the protagonist was going to unleash; still enjoyable.
'Without Remorse' is about 1 hour 30 minutes long. It's not a lengthy movie, so it will easily keep your attention. Michael B. Jordan's performance is spectacular as expected.
After the initial credits rolled, we got a teaser to a possible new installment that might be coming. The scene shows John Kelly meeting with Ritter, now the new CIA director in Washington DC and he suggests putting a team together to combat terrorism. He called it 'Rainbow'. Anyone familiar with Tom Clancy will know this is a reference to 'Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six'. This might lead to a new movie.

P.S.: I'm still waiting for a 'Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell' movie that might never happen.
