SWEET HOME

When movie directors and writers don't copy Hollywood's exhausted storytelling with excessive stereotypes and clichés you get a good series like 'Sweet Home'. This series tells the story of different occupants of Green Home after a monster outbreak in Republic of Korea. Among the different characters you will be spending your time with is the protagonist, Hyun-soo, a troubled teenager who lost his family to an accident.
Eight episodes into this series I was wanting more episodes with two left to go. Yes! 'Sweet Home' is that good. There is blood, gore, violence but most importantly a good storytelling and interesting characters. Apart from the protagonist, other characters will get your interest invested in them as they are not flat characters. They are part of what makes the plot solid.
For me, the best way to describe Sweet Home at first was like watching a good 'Resident Evil' adaptation, the further I proceeded in the episodes the more it felt like a fantastic manga adaptation(I decided to google the series and discovered it's an adaptation of a webtoon; as suspected). It also reminded me of one of my favourite podcast drama of all time 'We're Alive'.
Visually, 'Sweet Home' looks great. You just have to see the series to understand this. Keep in mind that it is a tv series and it doesn't have the budget of a blockbuster movie. So, the monster CGI's won't blow you away. They're just okay and not horrible.
The series is 10 episodes long and each episode is not more than 55 minutes except for maybe the final episode. Unlike some K-Drama, 'Sweet Home' won't waste your time with cheap drama to make an episode drag into 50 minutes or 1 hour mark. Every episode ended with a bang! You wouldn't want to waste much time trying to find out what happened in the following episode, you will enjoying bingeing this series.
If you love horror movies, this one is a must watch. I'm very sure you will enjoy every bit of drama, action and comic reliefs. If you are the tearful type, you might be needing some tissue paper for the last episode.
Finally, the season ended with a nice cliffhanger which leaves it opened for possible second season. If you have seen all 10 episodes let me know what you think of the whole series.
