WRONG TURN(2021)
Six friends are on a hiking trip. Everything is going as planned till they decide to go off trail despite being warned by a town folk to stay on the trail.
If you want to see adults make silly and dumb mistake that leads to their gruesome demises in 2021. Well, that means you've picked up the right movie but hold up for a second, I think this movie is supposed to be a reboot of the classic slasher horror 'Wrong Turn' from 2003. In my opinion this movie should have been titled something else like maybe 'The Foundation' but not 'Wrong Turn'. I guess it's a form of marketing strategy to get people to watch it. I went into this movie with expectations and knowledge from the classic slasher. My expectation is left in slight disappointment half way through the movie. The first half of this movie feels like a classic 'Wrong Turn' movie but going into the second half it was totally not it for me. It felt like I've been clickbaited. The first half contains set pieces that you will normally see in a 'Wrong Turn' movie, the other half tries to be clever with a twist that you might find interesting.
To save you from the stress of watching this movie. Remember those classics cannibal baddies in the old movies? They're not in this movie. No Three Finger, no Saw tooth or One Eye. Those savages are replaced with some kind of weird tribes that lives in the mountain for some funny reasons which I will leave you to find out if you still intend in watching.
This movie is not all that bad. I know it might sound like I'm contradicting myself here but hear me out. Like I said earlier, if this movie was a movie on it's own without ties to 'Wrong Turn', it's got a creepy vibe, slasher movie elements with an okay twist but for the team that put this movie together I seriously don't understand their thought process on how it's a 'Wrong Turn' movie. Imagine watching a 'Friday The Thirteenth' movie without Jason Voorhees or 'Halloween' without Michael Myers.
If you're a die hard fan of the original 'Wrong Turn' movie and some of its sequel. I will advise you stay away from this movie or watch with zero expectations. After seeing this movie, I feel like revisiting the old 'Wrong Turn' movies especially the part 1 and 4.
P.S.
I looked up the director of this movie and it's the same director as the original 'Wrong Turn'. I still don't get his perspective on this one. I suspect different changes and idea went on behind the scenes in the production of this movie.
