THE LITTLE THINGS

To have actors like Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto on a movie. I'm very sure that's enough to get almost anybody's expectations up mere seeing the trailer or the movie poster. I guess that's also what the team that worked on this one was thinking too. It's a case where the script is average and the team hopes the profile of the actors sells the movie.
'the little things' is a murder mystery story that you've probably seen its premise so many times from other movies or TV series. Denzel Washington plays an old-time city cop that somehow lost his reputation, and now a cop in a small town then he gets an assignment that takes him back to the city where he encounters an all too familiar crime scene. Rami Malek plays the young promising new city cop, and it's up to this duo to catch the serial killer that is on the loose. Jared Leto plays the antagonist, although a part of me was hoping we'll see him play another role away from the antagonist role in this one but that is not the case.
'the little things' is one of those movies that take the viewers on a slow burn build up and you just have to sit through it. Is it boring? I can't really say it's boring but all that happened in the movie is what it had to offer. Could it have been better? Definitely, because of the calibre of actor on its cast list. At the end of the movie, I had more questions than the plot had answered. I will also say the actors played their parts according to the script so well. The lapses of the movie is not the case of bad acting but it just what the script had for its audience.
This is one of those tough movies to recommend but if you don't mind watching a plot that is very familiar or you want to see the faces of your favourite actors you can give it shot.
