GODZILLA VS KING KONG
I remember the first time watching Godzilla(2014). It was a cinematic astonishment for me. I unconsciously found myself rewatching it a number of times. Fast forward to 2021, we've got the 4th installment of monsterverse from Legendary, 'Godzilla Vs King Kong'. We've seen both giant monsters in their own individual movies, now it's time to witness them share a movie together. Sounds awesome right?
The first thing you're going to notice in the first half of this movies is how beautiful it looks. There is a big fortune that went into the CGI of this movie and they deliver. Budget well spent in the graphics department.
Moving to the plot department of this movie. That's where the complicated questions come into play. Do we really need a complex plot for this kind of movie? Or a simple plot but well crafted one? If you live in the monsterverse, you'll know it won't take long before a world power military or a cooperate jerk attempts to harness or weaponize the something about the giant monsters; that's the basic plot right there.
I will prefer not to say much about the plot in this review. However, one thing that impressed me about in this installment is how the home world of the giant monsters was explored; it furthers strengthens core of the monsterverse story. Especially, if a prequel or sequel is going to happen, that part of the plot paves a way for it.
'Godzilla vs King Kong' is 1 hour and 59 minutes long. By the time I was done, my time had not felt wasted. We came to see two giant monsters brawl and we got it. What else is there to complain about? To be honest, I didn't really care about the plot area that concerned the humans; it kind of weak.
'Godzilla vs King Kong' is a movie you'll enjoy watching, giving you don't care about a deep plot and you just want to see two giant monsters brawl it out and go crazy.
P.S.: By the time the carnage was done in this movie, if it was a realistic world, I wouldn't want to imagine the death toll and billons worth of investments and structural damages caused by the monstrous combat. Boy! They really went all out. Just a playful thought. :)
