STOWAWAY
A three-man space exploration to Mars come under jeopardy when a they get an unplanned fourth-man onboard by accident. The whole crew's survivor is endangered as the spacecraft can't accommodate them all due to it's engineering.
I just have one thing to say about this movie. It lacked proper CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!
Character development is key in movies like this. I mean, that's part of what makes 'Interstellar' superb experience. It is also one of the greatest space exploration sci-fi movies I have seen. The character development is so solid that when tension and tragic realisation start unfolding. You feel what the main character is feeling, you feel what 'Cooper' was going through because of what he had at stake. 'Interstellar' used the early moments in it's long run time to establish this character development. For 'Stowaway', this is the department where it suffers the most and it makes this movie falls on the average tier for me. The spacecraft crew had things at stake but we never saw or feel the connection.
There is this technique employed by the director(s), that makes the character to be in communication with people back on earth but we don't get to see or hear what these people are saying back to them. Just some inaudible feedback to the crew's report. I feel like It's supposed to be some kind of approach that tries to set this movie apart but it only takes away from character development.
'Stowaway' is 1 hour 57 minutes long and it's until the last 30 minutes of this movies I felt like it was hitting the tension and emotional chord it had been trying to hit from the early minutes.
Finally, 'Stowaway' is a new entry into the collection of space exploration movies that we've already seen. 'Stowaway' tries to set itself apart but ended up being a dull experience for me. If you're out of movies to watch on your list, you can check this movie out but I'll rather rewatch 'Interstellar' or ' The Martian' than having to experience this movie all over again.
